ANDREW JACKSON WARREN

Hello, folks! I am so glad you stopped by! I have lived my life right here in Saline. My father, Aaron Warren, was a native of Deerfield, N.Y. He was a great-nephew of General Joseph Warren. General Warren was commander of the American forces at the Battle of Bunker Hill and there he gave his life for his country.
My father was both a farmer and a carpenter. He passed on when I was four years old. My mother, Mary Ann Hart was 23 years younger than my father. She raised me as an only child in Saline. I persued an education in the district schools and at Saline Union School.
I was reared to the occupation of farming, but like my father, I tried other interests. At 17 years of age, I became a partner with C.M. Webb who was connected with mercantile life. That was for two years and for the next two years I clerked in the dry goods store of C. Parsons. There I met Miss Edith L. Parson, the daughter of Cornelius and Mary A. Rouse Parsons. Yes, I married the bosses daughter in July 23, 1876.
Later I occupied a position as pharmacist and clerk for six years with Nichols Brothers. In March 1890 I purchased the Saline Observer which I edited and published. It was as excellent newspaper, if I do say so myself. It was devoted to the dissemination of local and general news and had a good advertising patronage and a large circulation list. I sure took pride in that newspaper!
Another part of my life was service to this village of Saline. I was born an Andrew Jackson democrat. On the Democratic ticket, I was elected to City Clerk and Treasurer, both for the village and Township. I have served on the village Council and was Justice of the Peace.
I have also served as Master of the Masonic Lodge of Saline. I have served as a worthy patron in the Order of the Eastern Star. I belonged to the Knight of the Maccabees and to the Forresters. Since 1875 when I was 19, I have been a member of the Baptist Church in town.
I believe that I have served my community well. It has made my life rich. I encourage you to make this Saline Community a great place to live by volunteering your time to meaningful activities. The Saline Rotary is a great place to start. I appreciate that the Saline Rotarians have given me the opportunity to share my life as well as many other people that once lived in Saline. Bless you all!
